Responsible use of resources that achieves impact

To calculate the carbon footprint, the values calculated jointly with the Raiffeisen Bank International Group and published in the annual sustainability report are supplemented with the company-specific CO2 packages from the IT area and the journey to the Raiffeisen Capital Management employees' premises (Scope 3): This resulted in a footprint of 571 tonnes of CO2 for 2023.

Raiffeisen-Fonds-Wald: achieving real impact

As a responsible fund management company, Raiffeisen Capital Management endeavours to continuously improve its carbon footprint.

In 2021, the asset manager launched the "Raiffeisen Fund Forest" reforestation project together with the Waldviertel-based company Wald4Leben. Taking into account the natural loss rate, the Raiffeisen Fund Forest now consists of around 8,750 trees in total. Starting in 2024 (as compensation for the majority of unavoidable CO2 emissions in 2023), Raiffeisen Capital Management intends to support the reforestation project with Wald4Leben to a much greater extent and thus achieve an even greater impact in real terms.

Take part!

You too can participate in the reforestation of forest areas in northern Lower Austria. On the Wald4Leben website you will find lots of information about the project partner. For those who decide quickly, you can go directly to the tree shop here.

Raiffeisen Wealth Management is part of the "Raiffeisen-Fonds-Wald" project and supports reforestation: 5 trees are planted for the mixed forest as part of every new sustainable wealth management contract.

Rebuild valuable resources

The climate crisis has also reached our forests in recent years. In addition to storm damage, it is above all the drought and the infestation of bark beetles that have severely affected shallow-rooted tree species such as spruce. In some districts of the Waldviertel, Weinviertel and Mühlviertel, bark beetles have destroyed more than 50 per cent of the forest area and entire forest areas have had to be harvested. As a result, many hundreds of hectares of forest in these areas have disappeared and can no longer be reforested by the forest owners themselves due to a lack of acceptable yields and a great deal of time and effort. Raiffeisen Capital Management wants to allow these valuable resources to grow back.

CO2 Footprint Team

In this context, a Footprint team has been formed at Raiffeisen Capital Management, which is dedicated in particular to the development and implementation of operational ecology measures and the creation of a dedicated information platform. The latter is intended to network knowledge, ideas and initiatives in both a professional and private context.

  • ESG stands for environment (E), social (S) and governance (G).

  • Operational ecology measures are understood to be those measures that contribute to an improvement in the carbon footprint in the sense of "avoid - reduce - compensate". For a company in the financial sector, these include the following areas in particular: Business travel, energy consumption through office use and IT, waste management, water use, etc.
